I just came back from the hospital, after seeing my general surgeon. I had the problem in my anal region ( left perianal region to be precise) since the day i worked at polywata cafe after my STPM. But i remebered the perianal abcess that time slowly subsided after few days, so I didn't care much about it. Perianal abcess is painful, really, only those who had experieced this knows what I m talking about. Because the anal region is folded and full with fat, furthermore the anal region is a very very sensitive part in our body, just take a feather and gentely stroke your anal hole and you know how senstive it is. Hence having a abcess hurts really badly. Yeah, the story of my anal goes. After i stoped working from the cafe, everything seem really ok, until i came to MMU to do my degree. The first semester here, There was again abcess attacks 2 times but this two times subsides after few days, But during 27 august 2007 the abcess came back and this time is the worst pain. It never subsides eventhough i applied antibacterial cream and took antibiotics, but it continues to grow bigger and bigger. The pain was very very very much, I cant walk, cant sit, and hurts also when i lied on my bed. It came to a point where my GP finally refered me to a General surgeon at Pantai Hospital, Dr. Tang Chong Lye. I went for my first surgery to drain the abcess and after they drained it, they let me looked at the pus and blood drained out. The pus looks as it it had solidifed. and the blood looks dark and dirty. crap.... The surgeon can't find any fistula or tunnel which coonects my perianal skin to my anal canal. so he just clean the wound and let it heal by itself. The healing took about 2 months and my normal life continues. 3+ months later, I have another attack. Oh my god, this time was as bad as the first time. but this time the abcess bursted itself while i was preparing to go to the Pantai Hospital again. So i jz went to my GP and she cleaned the wound for me and let it healed itself. Then one year went on without anything.
You see, fistula can be formed after a abcess case, according to statistical studies about 50% of perianal abcess patients suffers from fistula formation after their abcess attack. And the problem with this fistula is it is not easy to be find. My first doctor could not find it. So, it was left to heal by itself. But there was indeed one fistula form god knows when which lead the the second serious attack few months after my first surgery, and Now the thrid attack now year 2009. Haiz..... this time i went for the abcess draining for the second time. and i changed another doctor, this guy Dr.Lim Eng Seng. He drained my abcess and found the fistula. But during the surgery, He didnt do anything to the fistula becase this fistula passed through my sphentric muscles, Anyway, he just inserted a seton through the fistula to keep it open so that there will be no more attacks. This seton have given me a lot of problems. during my abcess healing this year, i had another minor abcess attack on other part and some discharge coming out from my wound. It was indeed problematic. Anyway, everything looks as if it was healing now and Now i have to prepare for my fistulatomy, a follow-up surgery done to unroof this fistula and let it heal naturally from the inside so that this tunnel (fisutla) would be closed and no more abcess attacks. haigh.... Well, I actually kinda prepared for the fistulatomy and will do it once my insurace problem is settled. To any fistula abcess suffrers who are reading this, Please don't worry about your problem. Just find a good doctor and have faith and trust in the people you love and love you. You will need all the courage and strenght to go through this. But dont worry, It will heal. Hope this post helps because many materials on the net dont really help me but instead giving me a shit fright outta my crap.
